今年もまた熊谷駅と籠原駅にでっかい絵が登場したよ！毎年たくさんの公募から選ばれる「階段アート」。今年のグランプリは高校生の女の子が描いたでっかいスイカの絵！みんなもこれを見て、ぼくと一緒に夏の暑さを乗り切るにゃー！

1.　Big paintings have suddenly appeared in Kumagaya station yard and entertain its passengers.

2.　On July 29th, “stair art” to make people get cool appeared in the main stairs of Kumagaya station.

3.　Huge water melon and summer vegetables in an iced tub with blue sky and white cumulonimbus in the background grab passenger’s eyes , making them feel so cool.

4.　Young officials in Kumagaya city hall launched this “stair art” project in 2011. They asked the public for works with the theme of “coolness”, “water” and “blue”.

5.　This year’s grand prix is “cooled vegetable” by third year high school student Momoko Koishikawa. She said hot summer makes us lose our appetite, so she wants people feel coolness with taste of summer vegetables.

1.　大きな絵画が熊谷駅構内に突如として登場し、乗客の目を楽しませている。

2.　6月29日、人々の心を涼やかにする「階段アート」が熊谷駅の大階段に登場した。

3.　青い空と真っ白な入道雲をバックに（して描かれた）巨大なスイカと夏野菜が駅利用者の目を奪い、涼やかな気持ちにさせている。

4.　熊谷市の若い職員達により、2011年にこの「階段アート」のプロジェクトが始まった。彼らは「涼」、「水」、「青」をテーマに作品を公募した。

5．今年のグランプリは高校３年生の小石川桃子さんの「冷やした野菜」で、「暑くなると食欲が減るので、夏野菜のおいしさと一緒に涼を感じてもらえれば」と語った。
